In the Great Southern Treasures, you’ll discover a collection of the region’s rare gems – towns tied through the common themes of a rich agricultural heritage, roots deep in Noongar culture, strong creative and community spirit and larrikin charm set against the unspoilt beauty of wildflowers and dramatic, elevated vistas.

These ‘Treasures’ are a Local Tourism Organisation representing eight shires in the Upper Great Southern region: Broomehill-Tambellup, Cranbrook, Gnowangerup, Jerramungup, Katanning, Kent, Kojonup, and Woodanilling.

Comprising over 20 towns, tour the Treasures in a circuit to take in its rich tapestry of attractions.

Yongergnow Australian Mallefowl Centre

Visit this immersive conservation centre in Ongerup and learn about the endangered mallefowl bird, spot wildflowers along the meandering trail and appreciate Noongar art.

PUBLIC Silo Art

Marvel at Miami artist Evoca1’s storage silos in Pingrup as part of FORM’s Public Silo Trail. The mural reflects the rich agricultural roots of Pingrup life.

Kodja Place

A cultural hub, take a self-guided tour of the Storyplace centre where an exhibition aimed at reconciliation showcases local Noongar culture and settler history. Gain deeper insights on a tour with Noongar man Billy Riley, who will share his story.

The Horsepower Highway

Travel down this 75-kilometre self-drive trail to spot quirky, vintage tractors interspersed through scenic farmlands as you approach the striking silhouettes of the Stirling Range.

Stirling Range National Park

Home to one of the state’s few mountainous wild places, the Stirling Range, the national park beckons you to choose from the iconic and deceptively challenging Bluff Knoll (Bular Mial), the full-day Mt Magog bush walk, the Talyuperlup Walk Trail for rock hoppers, among other gazetted trails.

Base yourself in nature at one of the Treasures’ many sites like Stirling Range Retreat and Mount Trio Bush Camp & Caravan Park. Take in the tranquillity of your surroundings, with clear dark skies ripe for stargazing and a myriad of trails all around.

Sukey Hill (Binjellup) Lookout

Soak in spectacular views of the Stirling Range from this scenic lookout 10 minutes east of Cranbrook. While Binalup, the original name for Middleton Beach in Albany means morning light, Binjellup is the opposing reference point to the sun, meaning the sunset hill of the range.
